Learn, exchange, grow, and serve. The U.S. Department of State offers many programs for non-U.S. citizens wishing to come to the U.S. for cultural, educational, or professional exchange. These programs are augmented by local opportunities in countries around that world that allow non-U.S. citizens to explore U.S. culture and the English language.
More than 430 international student advising centers in more than 175 countries and territories that offer information about opportunities to study at accredited postsecondary institutions in the United States.
American English is a resource center for teaching and learning about American English language and culture.
Cultural and Professional Exchanges Programs
Exchanges that engage professionals in the government, non-profit, and private sectors; high school students; representatives from the cultural and sports communities; and disenfranchised and underserved audiences.
Brings emerging leaders and professionals to the United States on 13 different cultural exchange programs focused on education, research and skills development. The program allows participants to hone their skills, immerse themselves in American society and culture, connect with Americans, and share their culture with their American host communities.

The U.S. Government funds cultural exchange programs, which bring U.S. arts community leaders and academia to Zambia, to foster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration, and to demonstrate shared values and aspirations between the people of the United States and Zambia. Visiting U.S. experts conduct workshops, give performances, and mentor young people throughout Zambia.
Educational & Professional Exchange Programs
The Public Affairs Section arranges a variety of U.S.-government sponsored exchange programs that link Zambians and Americans. These programs are intended to introduce participants to the United States and American people and culture, as well as provide them with a chance to exchange ideas with their American colleagues.
The United States Embassy in Zambia has been actively promoting entrepreneurship to meet our goal of sustained, broad-based, and inclusive economic prosperity in Zambia.

Ambassador’s Special Self Help Small Grants Program
The U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self Help Small Grants Program share the same goals of providing small-scale assistance directly to Zambian community based organizations as part of an ongoing commitment by the U.S. government to support Zambian-driven development activities on a local level. Public Affairs Section Small Grants
The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section Grants Program awards grants to Zambian non-profit and non-governmental organizations and independent media for projects that support U.S. goals in the Republic of Zambia, including those promoting a better understanding of the United States, democracy and governance, entrepreneurship development, and peace. Successful proposals will include a component that relates to the United States.
The PEPFAR Small Grants Program
The Small Grants Program is a highly competitive initiative designed to assist communities with innovative projects that provide care and support to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their households, as well as provide assistance to groups implementing HIV and AIDS Prevention projects. Recipients of a PEPFAR small grant receive funding intended to help local organizations and/or communities start or continue a sustainable project that directly benefits OVC or mitigates the effects of HIV and AIDS.
