American Center Lusaka

The U.S. Embassy American Center Lusaka (ACL) is a place to access free information about the United States. The ACL offers a collection of print and electronic resources, and hosts library tours, film screenings, discussions, and workshops to promote a mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Zambia.

The ACL offers free resources for entrepreneurs such as workshops and training sessions, and access to MAC computers, a 3-D printer, and other technologies.

Women’s Wednesday
The ACL hosts women leaders to mentor and inspire young women every Wednesday 14:00—15:30.

American Film Friday
The ACL screens and discusses American documentaries every Friday 09:00—11:30.

The ACL offers free EducationUSA advising services to those who seek information about studying in the United States. Advising services are available by appointment, please email

Printed Resources
The ACL has an extensive collection of books, journals, magazines, and other-printed resources on U.S. politics, history, foreign policy, culture, business, entrepreneurship, and education. Free online books are also available in the ACL on iPads.

Film Collection
The ACL has a collection of American award-winning feature films and documentaries available to watch in the ACL on portable DVD players.

Free membership is available to persons 18 years or older. ACL members can borrow two books for two weeks and can visit the ACL during hours of operation without an appointment. Non-member visitors must email for an appointment. To download and complete the ACL membership form, please click here.

The ACL is available to use as a free venue for members of U.S.-Zambia alumni for events in line with ACL core programs. Use of the space is subject to the approval of IRC staff. Please contact to discuss your request.

The ACL is open to the general public during the following hours of operation. Please note the ACL is closed on Zambian and U.S. holidays.
